Twitter just announced that it added two new features and I am quite pleased with them. First of all it is now possible to send a direct message to a group of up to 20 people. And secondly you can record video and share the video immediately with your followers. In this blog you can find out how to make use of these two great new Twitter features.
New Twitter feature: Sending direct message to a group of people
You can now send direct messages to a group of up to 20 people. I see at least two great opportunities for this feature:
1) Share important company news and blogs with employees and ask them to retweet.
Once you have a tweet in which you share relevant company news or your blog, you can send it to a number of employees (ideally include the heavy users and those who have a big group of followers). You have the option to include a short text, like “please share this with your followers”. The tweet is included with a link so with one click, people will see the tweet and they can immediately retweet it.
The message itself will not appear in the tweet.Sending group messages can be done both from your mobile device and from your desktop/laptop. Simply click on the tweet you would like others to retweet, then click on the dots below the tweet and go to “Share via Direct Message”. You can then simply add the names of the people you would like to send the tweet to. P.S. If you do this on your mobile, make sure you have updated the Twitter app in the app store, otherwise it will not work.
2) Use group messages to ask brand ambassadors and friends to promote your event or workshop.
If you organise an event or workshop, Twitter is a great medium to promote it. Normally you would ask your friends and brand ambassadors maybe once to retweet a tweet related to your event. This new feature makes it much easier to ask more people more frequently for a retweet.
New Twitter feature: Recording video and send it to your followers
It is now possible to record a video and send it immediately to your followers. What a great tool! Perfect to use when you want to share what’s happening on a conference or event, or when you want to share a short, personal tip with your followers. Simply click on the ‘picture icon’ when you want to type a tweet, go to video and start recording.
I can really recommend to check out these two features. It might bring even more dynamics to Twitter.
